2010 Forecast

Hello subscribers, and thanks for tuning in again for another love and red starfish beauty review by yours truly.
First, Happy New Year and sorry this posting is a little late but hey rather late than never right? Okay, so there are a lot of interesting things going on in 2010. This is going to be a pivotal year for beauty and fashion in New York. Whats in? What not? As these are relative questions, the key component is looking unique as well as fashionable. No one wants to be caught in a room with three other women wearing the same dress. Search your options, don't be afraid to go for the less expensive stores. Ladies will pay top dollar to look '"unique" only to be let down by the repetition of some of these high end stores. Check out Charolette Russe, dare I say it Forever 21, they have great stuff to mix and match, AMI Clubwear (I swear their shoes are amazing), Wet Seal and so much more. These are affordable examples. If you're more of a spender, I would suggest without going overboard, Free People, LF, Bebe, Urban, and Anthropologie. These brands are a lot more expensive but their garments are beautiful. They last forever and I find that their things are classic.

Remember fashion and style are two very different things. Anyone can wear designer clothes and look like everyone else, but style is a completely original expression, don't get the two confused.

You know I can't talk about trends and not discuss my first love, makeup. What are we seeing this year so far and what's to come? My forecast for beauty and makeup trends this Spring are definitely smokey eye variations; brown and gold, purple and black, blue and green. Its about showing your artistry this season. Its all about emphasizing the eyes. Now if your someone who doesn't usually wear a lot of eye makeup, use a light colored eyeliner, like green or a lilac just for a added pop of color; its less dramatic and quick and easy.

What are the models using to keep their skin flawless? The answer is really expensive products no one can really afford. Want to know the inexpensive way to keep skin clear? Try ingredients that are right in your refrigerator.

Tomato Scrub:

1 tomato

1 table spoon of sugar

Directions:

Cut Tomato in half, preferable by the stem. Grab the section place it into the sugar thats been poured onto the plate. And scrub onto clean skin. Rinse with cool water.

Tomatoes contain large amounts of vitamin C and vitamin A. The red pigment of the tomato also contains lycopene, a compound  abundant in antioxidants, neutralizing free radicals that damage cells in the body. This is very significant in skin care.

Egg white and oatmeal:

2 eggs

3 tablespoons of dry oatmeal

Directions:

Whip egg whites into oatmeal and apply on face wearing gloves. Let dry for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water.

This process, tightens your pores and the oatmeal works as an exfoliator.

Treat your skin with respect and I promise you two a very happy life together. Moisturize everyday, drink water like its no one's business and wear sunscreen that includes the brown skin ladies!

Beauty this upcoming spring will also include without a doubt bold bright lipstick. Pink, red, and plume lips will be kissing and telling all season (ya like that) lol. But be careful not to over do it. If you have on a bold eye shadow look don't be ridiculous and put on bright orange lips, test your limits, really think about the color scheme you're going for. No one wants to leave their house looking like they just ate an economy size bag of cheese puffs.

Well thats it for today, talk to you soon! Stay tuned for more health, beauty and fashion insight :)

Love and Peace!
